Existential Risk Observatory: inform the public about AI x-risk (track record in TIME)
We are the only organization that focuses on reducing AI existential risk by informing the public. Higher public awareness about AI existential risk should lead to appropriate AI regulation and more AI Safety research. We achieve our goals by publishing articles in traditional media (track record: 25 media items including two in TIME Magazine), doing communication research (track record: the first papers on the topic), organizing events (track record: debates with Stuart Russell, Connor Leahy, and several MPs), and lobbying (track record: a unanimous motion passed through Dutch parliament asking for more AI Safety research). More information can be found on our website.
We are currently active in the Netherlands, the UK and the US. More resources would allow us to scale up and increase effectiveness significantly.
