Establishing the Africa Center for AI Governance (ACAG)
The Africa Center for AI Governance (ACAG) is building the continent’s first institution dedicated to embedding African values, philosophies, and perspectives into global AI safety and governance conversations. Our goal is to ensure that Africa is not left behind, or worse, misrepresented, as powerful actors race to shape the future of artificial intelligence.
What We’re Doing
- Conduct original research on African values and AI ethics
- Host policy roundtables with African and global experts
- Build a digital platform for discourse, resources, and outreach
- Forge institutional partnerships across academia, policy, and tech
Funding Goals (Quarterly)
Primary goal: $80,000
Stretch goal: $150,000
Funds will support
- Research publications
- Staff and operational costs
- Convenings with policymakers and ethicists
- Launch of our public digital hub
Transparency & Accountability
- Supporters can track progress via our website and quarterly reports
- All publications and roundtable outcomes will be open access
- No controversial ethical risks identified - project promotes equity and inclusion in global tech policy
